Biopic films on the Rise
In what world can Jamie Foxx be Ray Charles and Idris Elba be Nelson Mandela? How can Denzel Washington be Malcolm X and Diana Ross be Billie Holiday? Where else can Will Smith be Mohammed Ali, Halle Berry be Dorothy Dandridge, Lynn Whitfield be Josephine Baker and Angela Bassett be Tina Turner? A biopic film, that's where!

Biopics are trending in Hollywood and Chadwick Boseman has thus far portrayed Jackie Robinson in 42 and most recently the god father of soul, James Brown, in Get On Up. What more does Hollywood have in store for us? Well, not only are we on pins and needles to see Don Cheadle in Miles Ahead, the story of the legendary jazz musician Miles Davis, we are also awaiting the release of Straight Outta Compton, the riveting story of the infamous music group NWA.

But that's just the big screen! In the comfort of our own homes, Lifetime will be bringing us the untold stories of music icons Whitney Houston and Aaliyah. So exciting! Everyone loves a good biopic because we want to humanize these public figures. Biopics are the closest we will get to first-handedly witnessing the true reactions to the events that took place in a person's life. Through biopics we get to be the fly on the wall.

With that being said, here are the top ten weekend box office results:
