(Miami FL) Veteran Miami journalist Paul Borden will receive the 2014 AutoFOCUS Awards Automotive Advocate of the Year on Saturday, November 8th at 6:00pm. Borden is a Founding member of the Southern Automotive Media Association (SAMA) and served as vice president for two years and president for two. Borden also served as chairman of Topless in Miami, a SAMA-sponsored convertible competition. He is currently serving a second term as vice president of the organization. “We are thrilled to present this honor to Paul. He has been a wonderful and reliable automotive advocate, leader, and friend” said Tony C. Lesesne of the Lesesne Media Group.
“Paul Borden has exemplified what a member of SAMA should be about” said Bill Adam, President of the Southern Automotive Media Association. “He has given endlessly, tirelessly and his unselfish commitment to this organization is truly impressive.” Borden himself was humbled by the recognition. “I feel honored and want to thank you for the Autofocus award. I know it's a great event and I feel privileged to be a part of it. Lesesne said that Borden is perfect for the theme of this year’s theme: Leveraging the past to Advance the Future. “He has knowledge of the history of the auto industry and understands the future relating to what’s on the horizon.” The Annual AutoFOCUS awards celebrate automotive advocacy, innovation and leadership as part of the Miami International Auto Show.
Born and raised in Indiana, Borden graduated from Indiana University. The former Naval officer has lived in Miami since 1992. Borden worked on newspapers in Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Arkansas, mostly as a sportswriter/columnist/editor, before joining the Miami Herald as a copy editor in 1992. In 2001 Borden became a Senior Editor with AMI Autoworld. He currently writes car reviews for the website examiner.com.
The AutoFOCUS awards will be held on the 2nd floor atrium of the Miami Beach Convention Center during the Miami International Auto Show.
