13th Annual AutoFOCUS Awards Recap

The 13th Annual AutoFOCUS awards and Entertainment Achievers event was a hit. Kanndy Gomez, the beautiful and popular Miami actress gave the official welcome before turning the hosting duties over to Woodie and Tony Lesesne. They introduced Miami International Auto Show Manager Rick Baker who reminded everyone that the AutoFOCUS Awards has reached an incredible 13 years after being launched in an effort to build bridges between entertainment, business and the auto industry.

Afterwards, the dynamic Lesesne duo created an atmosphere of fun and laughter before recognizing the award recipients before a full house of supporters, entertainment professionals, auto executives, media and business leaders during the Miami International Auto Show. Those recipients included Automotive journalist Paul Borden who received the automotive advocate award; Cliff Townsend (best actor), recording artists Mikey Cortez and Kwatt (Emerging Artists award) Shawn AKA Broad Daylight (best song), and Rodney Laurent (producer of the Year).

In the biggest surprise of the evening, award-winning actor Cliff Townsend, joined by local actors from the Independent Film Acting Camp led an unscripted presentation to hosts Tony and Woodie Lesesne for their contributions to the entertainment industry and the Independent Film Acting Camp that Tony Lesesne founded.

The award itself was also a hit. Woodie and Tony Lesesne commissioned popular Miami Artist Ileana Collazo to design something elegant on a wine bottle that would be a signature award for years to come. “The result was perfect says” Tony Lesesne. The bottles are beautifully adorned, oil-painted, specially heated wine bottles featuring flowing patterns of blue, black and silver surrounded the iconic autofocus logo and each of the names of the winning recipients blazed on the front. By Miami artist Indiana was initiator side to develop something unique and different for the award recipients. Sponsor representatives Patrick Hernandez or GMC and Tamara Mlynarczyk of Mazda were also happy to be presented with the signature awards.

The Lesesne’s also noted that their team of family members and talented young college students is a positive indication that the future looks promising.

The rest of the evening was filled with merriment starting with the post event reception that featured the heart-pounding, foot stomping music mixes from the award-winning DJ Thabiti. All the while attendees participated in a happy glitz-fest and photo frenzy in front of the step and repeat where camera were blazing and selfies were in overdrive.

To close the evening out, attendees were asked to hit the Miami International Auto show and take photos or selfies at the sponsor displays and submit them as a part of the newly announced best sponsor photo contest. Winners will be announced at the upcoming Noche de Amigos closing reception/party scheduled for this Saturday at 6pm
