LOS ANGELES, December 10, 2014 – NATPE||Content First President and CEO Rod Perth today announced on-pace registration numbers for domestic and international buyers, exhibitors and general attendees for the upcoming 2015 NATPE market and conference, taking place Jan. 20-22at the Fontainebleau Resort, Miami Beach. Every sector of the business will be represented at the market and spotlighted in the conference, which has been constructed under the theme, “Content without Borders.”
Pacing for both domestic and international buyers continues to be strong with 62 countries represented. In addition, 22 station groups are participating, many of which are taking advantage of NATPE’s Station Group Incentive Program, a concierge service offering a variety of packages for groups of different sizes.
There are currently 230 exhibitors confirmed (107 domestic and 123 international). For the third consecutive year, each of the major studios will return to NATPE, while 28 new exhibitors will attend NATPE||Miami for the first time. Newcomers this year are equally distributed across the U.S., Canada, Latin America and other international regions. The most noticeable increase in European attendance hails from Germany, with two of the larger distributors (ZDF and Global Screen) testing out the market for the first time. Mr. Perth also noted that the exhibition floor and Versailles Tower are completely sold out, with the Tresor, Sorrento and Chateau Towers nearly sold out.

As previously announced, the conference will feature a new NATPE||Reality day on Tuesday, January 20. The schedule will consist of panels on the state of the industry, formats, reality syndication, the development process and a case study on Shark Tank, which will feature a conversation with executive producer Clay Newbill and Daymond John, CEO and Founder, FUBU. Attendees will also have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pitch their ideas directly to a roster of nearly impossible-to-reach decision makers in the first PRO Pitch event.
Another NATPE first is the Reality Breakthrough Awards, honoring those reality programs that “broke through the clutter” in the preceding year and “made some noise,” becoming part of the cultural conversation, and generally altering our perception of what’s possible in the genre. Phil Rosenthal, Creator/Executive Producer of Everybody Loves Raymond, will serve as moderator of Norman Lear’s opening keynote. Promising a laughter-filled and thought provoking session, Mr. Lear will discuss his new memoir and reflect on the past 92 years of life and the differences between the former appointment television and the current "Golden Era” of binge TV.
Eva Longoria, talented actress, producer and activist, will join the conference’s Global Navigators Track on Thursday, January 22 to discuss how U.S. networks effectively engage with the burgeoning Hispanic audience. The Global Navigators Track will focus on international content and programming, addressing the significance of convergence in international channels, formats, global production solutions and cross cultural advertising strategies. The track includes nine sessions with leading international companies such as Televisa Internacional, MediaLink, Fox International Channels, Viacom International Media Networks, Sony Pictures Television, GroupM Entertainment NA, Endemol USA, Entertainment One Television, FremantleMedia North America, Tandem Communications and BBC Worldwide Americas. Legacy Honoree Adriana Cisneros will serve as the keynote.

The previously announced Storytellers and the Shaping of Pop Culture track will feature 2015 Legacy Honoree Jay Leno trading stories withCraig Ferguson, recent host of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Dan Harmon, Emmy-winning creator/executive producer of the comedy series Community will have a dedicated session, as will Academy Award nominee, documentarian and writer Morgan Spurlock.
Additionally, in celebration of America’s Funniest Home Videos’ 25th Anniversary, Creator and Executive Producer Vin Di Bona, will be joined by Executive Producers Todd Thicke, Michele Nasraway and Emmy Award-winning host Tom Bergeron.
Promising a memorable and rare session will be media hyphenate Russell Simmons. In addition, 2015 Legacy Honoree Jonathan Murray, Chairman, Bunim/Murray Productions, will chat on-stage with Cris Abrego, Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of Endemol North America.
Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer of Netflix and also a 2015 Legacy Honoree, will be joined by Mitchell Hurwitz, best known for creating and executive producing the genre-breaking television show Arrested Development; as well as Vince Gilligan, creator and producer of AMC’s hit series,Breaking Bad.
One of the highlights of the conference will be the presentation of findings from the second consecutive, two-part independent research study commissioned by NATPE and the Consumer Electronics Association. The 2015 study will explore the how’s and why’s of content discovery, along with alternatives and behaviors as they relate to live TV viewing, and the findings will be presented during special panel sessions at both International CES as well as NATPE||Miami.
