On November 5th, 2015, at the Annual Department of Economic Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker Outreach Program and Florida Department of Education Farmworker Career Development Program (FDCP) Staff Development Conference, CareerSource South Florida was awarded the 2014-2015 Regional Workforce Board of the Year award. Themed, “From the fields to high wages careers: Connecting the Dots”, the conference was held at the Miami Dade College Homestead Campus.
The award is intended to encourage the improvement of employment, training, and placement services for all farmworkers and recognize workforce development partners for excellence or demonstrated improvements in the provision of services to Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker. CareerSource South Florida was praised by Mario Zuniga, the State Director of FCDP as a “Trail Blazer Workforce Board. “CareerSource South Florida is way ahead of all the other regionals’ workforce boards in Florida,” said Zuniga.
CareerSource South Florida was specifically recognized for superior performance, collaboration, outreach and professional achievement in the areas of serving the Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker community.
