Everyone knows someone with Diabetes or Hypertension, the two leading causes of Kidney Disease. The National Kidney Foundation of Florida, headquartered in Orlando, hosts several fundraiser and awareness events around the state. Most notably is the annual Miami Kidney Walk, held at Bayfront Park overlooking the beautiful Biscayne Bay. Thousands of kidney dialysis patients, transplant recipients, donors, sponsors, NKF staff, family, friends and supporters came together to raise money and awareness about this way too prevalent disease. One in 9 people are impacted by Kidney disease, most don’t even know they have the disease.
On February 24th, it was a picture perfect day for the planned 3.3 mile Miami Kidney Walk. Spirits were high and the teams were in full team gear, touting the names of loved one, photos of those lost to the disease and the faces of the very young and hopeful, that there will be a kidney available for them.
There was music in the air for all to enjoy, with comments made by TV stars and music promoters, who lent their names to the cause. LMG Web TV will bring you a series of shows highlighting several aspects of the day and more insight into Kidney Disease.
